From fishing village to playground for the rich and famous
Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe first recognised Marbella’s appeal as a holiday destination, transforming his family home, Santa Margarita, into the Marbella Club Hotel in 1954. Alfonso and his family’s connection to the ‘jet-set’ of the era ensured a steady stream of international film stars, royalty and the great and the good from the business world. The Marbella Club Hotel is now regularly cited among the top luxury hotels in the world, along with its near neighbour, the Puente Romano which also boasts a restaurant and boutique hotel by the Nobu brand.
